TYKS

I have designed two large artworks attached to the staircase windows in the Compass Hospital, the psychiatric hospital of Tyks, Turku, Finland. One of them consists of the 2.5 m x 2.5 m windows on six floors, and the other is an entity of 2.2 m x 2.2 m windows on four floors. I chose local deciduous forest as the subject for two reasons: it brings welcome verdure to an urban indoor space as well as changes with the weather seen against the sky. It was important that one can still see through the windows, and this was achieved by using transparent optical film.
